The paper presents a procedure for optimal filter design detecting faults in uncertain continuous time dynamic systems with parametric uncertainties in the frequency domain. The filter is designed in order to maximize the faults' effect and to minimize the effect of unknown disturbances. Each element of the vector of the residual generator is designed to be sensitive to one particular fault only. The Kharitonov polynomials and the Dasgupta geometry are used to handle parametric uncertainties, i.e., to distinguish between failures and uncertainties, and to evaluate the worst case. A numerical example is supplied.
