A nonlinear elliptic problem in the unit ball in \(\mathbb{R}^N\) is considered. By using the known result that any classical solution of this problem is radially symmetric, the problem turns into an ordinary differential one. Some information about the solution \(v\) of the above problem are obtained by considering another equation, with the solution \(w.\) Some estimates of the difference between the functions \(v\) and \(w\) are given. The function \(v\) is studied as a small perturbation of \(w\) in the region near the origin; then \(v\) is studied as a small perturbation of a function which corresponds to the unique radial singular solution in the region away from the origin.
