The authors contribute to the matrix inequality approach to decentralized control problems (see e.g. [\textit{J. C. Geromel}, \textit{J. Bernussou} and \textit{P. L. D. Peres}, Automatica 30, 1565-1578 (1994; Zbl 0816.93036)]) based on the \(H_\infty\) methodology. The dynamic output feedback controller design is reduced to a feasibility problem of a bilinear matrix inequality which in turn is solved using the homotopy method in the case when the total dimension of the local controllers is the same as the dimension of the initial centralized controllers. Then the extension to the case where the total dimension of the local controllers is less than the dimension of the initial central controller is proposed for some special cases. The algorithm efficiency is illustrated by an example.
