A locally finitely presentable category \(\mathcal C\) with a finitely presentable regular generator \(\mathcal G\) is found such that not all finitely presentable objects of \(\mathcal C\) are coequalizers of morphisms between finite coproducts of objects from \(\mathcal G\). This solves a problem of \textit{P. Gabriel} and \textit{F. Ulmer} [``Lokal präsentierbare Kategorien'', Lect. Notes Math. 221 (1971; Zbl 0225.18004)]. Recall that every finitely presentable object is a retract of such a coequalizer.
