    The author studies the nontrivial solvability of the problem \(-\Delta u=g(x,u)\) in \(\Omega\), \(u=0\) on \(\partial\Omega\), where \(\Omega\subset {\mathbb R}^ N\) is a bounded smooth domain, and \(g\in C^ 1(\Omega\times{\mathbb R},{\mathbb R})\) such that \(g(x,0)=0\) and \[ \lim_ {| t| \to\infty}{{g(x,t)}\over{t}}=\lambda_ n,\quad \lim_ {t\to0}{{g(x,t)}\over{t}}=\lambda_ m \] uniformly on \(\overline\Omega\), with the \(\lambda_ n\) the Dirichlet eigenvalues of \(-\Delta\).
