The paper deals with one-dimensional periodic motion of a compressible general viscous isentropic gas in the presence of external periodic forces. The author discretizes the system of equations, considers its solution as fixed point of a finite-dimensional map, and obtains energy estimates strong enough to apply the Leray-Schauder fixed-point theorem. Then it is shown that the limiting solution of the discretized problem is a solution of the considered initial-boundary value problem. To do this, the author derives uniformly valid error estimates for the discretized solutions.
