The author considers holomorphic foliations on a complex manifold \(M\) of dimension bigger than two. For foliations given by Lefschetz pencils he proves that they have deformations equivalent to a deformation of some special foliation called horizontal and that any representation of the fundamental group of \(M\) can be realized as some deformation of the holonomy of a Lefschetz pencil.
