A right module \(M\) over an associative ring \(A\) with identity is said to be \(\pi\)-projective if for any two of its submodules \(U\) and \(V\) with \(U+V=M\), there is an endomorphism \(f\) of the module \(M\) such that \(f(M)\subseteq U\) and \((1-f)(M)\subseteq V\). The main result of the paper states that if \(A\) is a right hereditary right Noetherian prime ring and \(M\) is a right \(A\)-module containing a non-zero non-singular injective submodule \(E\), then \(M\) is a \(\pi\)-projective module if and only if \(A\) is a serial ring, \(E\) is a non-zero finite-dimensional non-singular module, \(M=E\oplus F\), where \(F\) is a finitely generated projective module and either \(E\) is a uniform module or there is a positive integer \(n\) such that the ring \(A\) is isomorphic to the ring of all \(n\times n\) matrices over a complete uniserial Noetherian domain.
