The authors study Dirichlet boundary value problems on bounded intervals for the Painleve II equation. They prove that the problem is uniquely solvable. The solution is obtained via the Leray-Schauder fixed-point theorem and an iterative process. Also, conditions on the existence of periodic solutions are set down.
