Assume that \(\rho\) is a convex and \(\delta\)-finite modular function satisfying the \(\Delta_2\)-type condition. Consider the modular space \(L_\rho\) generated by the modular function \(\rho\) and take a convex, \(\rho\)-bounded and \(\rho\)-a.e. compact subset \(C\) of \(L_\rho\). The main result of the paper under review asserts that every mapping \(T:C\to C\) which is \(\rho\)-asymptotically nonexpansive has a fixed point in \(C\). In particular, it is also shown that the same assertion is true in the case of a convex subset of the space \(L^1(\Omega,\mu)\) which is compact with respect to the topology of local convergence in measure.
