The main theorem of the paper is the following: For a \(T_{3\frac{1}{2}}\)-space X the following statements are equivalent: (1) Each finite power of \(X\) has property (*). (2) \(C_p(X)\) has countable strong fan tightness as well as Reznichenko's property. Here the property (*) means that for each sequence \((\mathcal U_n :n\in \mathbb N)\) of open covers of \(X\) there is a decomposition \(X=\bigcup_{n\in \mathbb N}X_n\) such that for each \(n\) and \(m\) there are \(k<l\) such that \(m<k\) and there are \(U_i\in \mathcal U_i, k\leq i \leq l\), such that \(X_n\subset \bigcup_{k \leq i \leq l}U_i\).
