The author shows that a \(3\times 3\) Hermitian matrix over the ring of integral split octonions has a unique canonical diagonal form under the action of the group \(E_{6,6}(\mathbb Z)\). This confirms the conjecture of \textit{J. Maldacena}, \textit{G. Moore}, and \textit{A. Strominger} [Counting BPS black-holes in toroidal Type II string theory, hep-th/9903163] on a standard form of a charge vector.
