Let \(V\) be a simple vertex operator algebra, \(G\) a finite group of automorphisms of \(V\) and \(V^G\) the corresponding vertex operator subalgebra of \(G\)-invariants. The principal conjecture in orbifold theory is the following: if every \(V\)-module is completely reducible then every \(V^G\)-module is completely reducible; moreover, every irreducible \(V^G\)-module is contained in some \(g\)-twisted \(V\)-module for some \(g\in G\). In the present paper the author uses the theory of skew group algebras to show that every irreducible \(V\) module is a completely reducible \(V^G\)-module.
