Some properties of strictly positive real (SPR) functions are studied. Conditions are derived under which strict positive realness of specific rational transfer functions is preserved under composition, substitution of variables or exponentiation to integer powers. The authors claim that the results may have applications in robust or adaptive control of linear systems, but the very few examples provided in the paper are hardly convincing.
