Techniques from Banach algebra are used to investigate the numerical solution of linear systems with a semi-infinite multi-index suitably perturbed block Toeplitz matrix. Using a properly weighted Wiener algebra decay properties of the solutions are investigated. A projection-type method for the solution and numerical results are presented. They show the accuracy of the method for certain perturbed Toeplitz systems and also the need for generalizing the theoretical framework to other such systems,
