For a partition \(\lambda\) and a \(k\)-tuple of partitions \(\mu=(\mu^{(0)},\dots,\mu^{(k-1)})\) one defines the Littlewood-Richardson coefficient \(c_{\mu}^{\lambda}\) as the coefficient of the Schur function \(s_{\lambda}\) in the product of Schur functions \(s_{\mu^{(0)}}s_{\mu^{(1)}}\cdots s_{\mu^{(k-1)}}\). \textit{A. Lascoux, B. Leclerc} and \textit{J.-Y. Thibon} [J. Math. Phys. 38, 1041-1068 (1997; Zbl 0869.05068)] defined polynomials \(c_{\mu}^{\lambda}(q)\) such that \(c_{\mu}^{\lambda}(1)=c_{\mu}^{\lambda}\). These \(q\)-analogues of Littlewood-Richardson coefficients are parabolic affine type A Kazhdan-Luszig polynomials and have nonnegative integer coefficients. The main results of the paper under review are two branching rules for the above \(q\)-Littlewood-Richardson polynomials which generalize recurrences of Garsia and Procesi for the Kostka-Foulkes polynomials. The main tool of the paper is a new way to read the cospin of a \(k\)-ribbon tableau directly from its \(k\)-quotient using a generalized inversion statistics.
