The author introduces the notion of amenability for affine algebras (by a Følner condition). He shows that, for affine algebras without zero-divisors, amenability is equivalent to non-paradoxicality and to the existence of a finitely additive invariant dimension-measure with respect to some basis. He shows that any affine algebra of subexponential growth is amenable, and then extends to amenable affine algebras the results of Rowen on ranks of finitely generated modules over affine algebras of subexponential growth.
