The authors investigate the oscillation properties of the solutions of the following nonlinear hyperbolic functional-differential equations \[ u_{tt} = a(t)\Delta u + \sum_{j=1}^m a_j(t) \Delta u(t-\tau_j(t),x) - \sum_{k=1}^n b_k(t,x) f_k(u(t-\sigma_k(t),x)) \] together with boundary conditions of Dirichlet or mixed types. Using averaging technique sufficient conditions for the oscillation are obtained. The authors also consider the cases of forced oscillations and equations of neutral type. Examples are presented.
