Let \(D\subset\subset\mathbb{C}^n\) be a pseudoconvex domain and \(f_1,\dots,f_p\) be holomorphic functions on \(D\) defining the subvariety \(V=\{z\in D\mid f_1(z)=\cdots= f_p(z)= 0\}\). If \(h\in \text{hol}(D)\) vanishes on \(V\), the division problem is to find \(g_1,\dots, g_p\) holomorphic on \(D\) such that \(h= \sum f_i g_i\). A solution to this problem has been given by \textit{B. Berndtsson} [Math. Ann. 263, 399--418 (1983; Zbl 0499.32013)] using an integral representation formula. The regularity of the \(g_p\) obtained by this formula is studied by \textit{P. Bonneau}, \textit{A. Cumenge} and \textit{A. Zeriahi} [C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris, Sér. I 297, 517--520 (1983; Zbl 0576.32025)] when \(D\) is strictly pseudoconvex. Unfortunately this regularity fails for weakly pseudoconvex domains. In this paper, the author solves the division problem using a modification of Berndtsson's formula. He then shows the regularity of the \(g_p\) given by his solution when \(V\) is an affine variety in a convex domain \(D\) of finite type. He also studies an example with a singular \(V\).
