The author derives a modified KdV equation governing the nonlinear behaviour of the system, including both charge fluctuation and dust density inhomogeneous effects. for the pure cold case, the dust-acoustic wave in tenuous or dense plasma all produce compressive solutions and their amplitudes decrease (increase) as the wave propagate in the direction of increasing (decreasing) dust number density.
