The author considers the Benney system of integro-partial differential equations in the Lagrangian variables (that describes the two dimensional time-dependent motion of an inviscid homogeneous fluid in a gravitational field in the case when the depth of the fluid is small compared with the horizontal wavelengths), and investigates the corresponding symmetry groups. By using the invariance criterion, he obtains the Lie point symmetries. Furthermore, by using symmetry groups, he finds some reduced forms of these equations with fewer independent variables.
