The goal of the author is to construct parametrices near diffractive points for boundary value problems for the linear elastic equation. The boundary conditions under discussion are the free boundary condition or the Dirichlet boundary condition. After a change of variables the linear elastic equation with corresponding boundary condition can be transformed to \[ L(x, D_x)u= 0\quad\text{in }x_3> 0,\quad B(x, D_x)u= 0\quad\text{on }x_3= 0. \] In the principal symbol \(L_2(x,\xi)\) of \(L\) and \(B_1(x,\xi)\) of \(B\) (in the case of the free boundary condition) a function \(g= g(x_1,x_2)\) appears. By the aid of this function the author describes conditions for a point \((0,\xi^{0'})\in T^*(\{x_3= 0\})\) to be a diffractive point with respect to one of the Lamé constants \(\mu\) and \(\lambda+ \mu\). The main result contains the existence of microlocal parametrices. Moreover, the wave front set of the parametrices is described. As an application a result about the propagation of singularities of solutions to the boundary value problem near diffractive points is proved.
