By means of the technique of measure of noncompactness, the authors prove the existence of monotonic solutions for the following class of quadratic integral equation of Volterra type in a Banach space \[ x(t)=a(t)+(Tx)(t)\int_{0}^{t}v(t,\tau,x(\tau))\,d\tau, \quad t\in I:=[0,M], \] where the function \(a\) is continuous, nondecreasing and nonnegative on the interval \(I\), \(v: I\times I\times \mathbb R\to \mathbb R\) is continuous and nondecreasing with respect to its first argument, and the operator \(T:C(I)\to C(I)\) is continuous. Here \(C(I)\) denotes the Banach space of all continuous functions defined on the interval \(I\) furnished with the standard sup-norm.
