In this paper the Petrov algebraic classification of the Weyl tensor, in higher dimension, is given. The static and stationary black rings are studied. The preferred metric, in the frame, \(m^{(0)}=n, m^{(1)}=l, m^{(i)}, i=2,\dots,D-1\), where \(m^{(i)}\) are spacelike vectors and \((n) (l)\) are the null vectors \(l^al_a=0\), \(n^an_a=0\) with \(m^{(i)a}l_a= m^{(i)a}n_a=0\), \(m^{(i)a}m_a^{(j)}=\delta_{ij}\), is given by \(g_{ab}=2l_{(a}n_{a)}+\delta_{ij}m_a^im_b^j\). Also some interesting considerations are given. Reviewer's remark: A null vector corresponds to a point \(p\), on the hyper quadric, \(g_{ab}x^ax^b=0\). Since \(g_{ab}n^an^b=0, g_{ab}l^al^b=0\), there exists a non-null vector, \(V, V^an_a=0\) with \((V;m^{(i)})\)-linearly independent vectors cannot be mutually orthogonal and \(n\) is a linear function of them.
