The 2-Moufang condition for generalized polygons states that for any point or line \(x\), the stabilizer of all elements incident with \(x\) acts transitively on the elements opposite \(x\). Moufang polygons are automatically 2-Moufang. The question is, whether the 2-Moufang condition implies the Moufang condition. For projective planes (which are the generalized triangles) the equivalence of Moufang with 2-Moufang was shown by the reviewer in [Bull. Inst. Comb. Appl. 35, 11--13 (2002; Zbl 1002.51003)]. For generalized quadrangles, this was done by \textit{F. Haot} and the reviewer in [Glasg. Math. J. 46, No. 2, 335--343 (2004; Zbl 1065.51005)]. In the paper under review, the author proves that no generalized pentagon can be 2-Moufang (which is in accordance with the fact that no Moufang pentagons exist) and that Moufang is equivalent with 2-Moufang for generalized hexagons. Also, she provides a much shorter argument for the case of quadrangles than the original one by Haot and the reviewer. The general problem still remains open (i.e., for generalized \(n\)-gons, with \(n>6\), one does not know whether 2-Moufang implies Moufang).
