The present paper focuses on two subjects. First, the authors study the asymptotic behavior of orthogonal polynomials on the unit circle with respect to varying measures. In contrast to the polynomial approximation which is an effective instrument for the case of a fixed measure, the authors use the rational approximation in the case of varying measures. The second subject concerns the distribution of zeros of orthogonal polynomials. The main result here provides a bound of the form \[ \limsup_{n\to\infty} | \Phi_n(\mu,0)| ^{1/n}\leq \mu{1,2r}, \] as long as the orthogonal polynomials \(\Phi_n(\mu)\) have zeros in the disk \(D_r=\{z:| z| \leq r\}\) for each large enough \(n\). This result leads to the answer on a question posed by B. Simon.
