Let \(K\) be a number field and \(E\) an elliptic curve defined over \(K\). Let \(G_K\) be the absolute Galois group \(\text{Gal}(\overline K/K)\). In this paper the author proves that there is a subset \(\Sigma\subset G_K\) of Haar measure one such that for every \(\sigma\in\Sigma\), the spectrum of \(\sigma\) in the natural representation \(E(\overline K)\otimes\mathbb{C}\) of \(G_K\) consists of all roots of unity, each of infinite multiplicity. A key result, which is used in his proof, is the following: For any integer \(n\geq 2\), there exists an infinite sequence \(L_i/K\) \((i\geq 1)\) of linearly disjoint finite Galois extension such that \(\text{Gal}(L_i/K)\cong S_n\) and there is a \(\text{Gal}(L_i/K)\)-submodule \(M_i\subset E(L_i)\otimes\mathbb{C}\) which is isomorphic to the \((n-1)\)-dimensional quotient of the permutation representation and any non-torsion points \(P_i\in E(L_i)\) with \(P_i\otimes 1\in M_i\) are linearly independent.
