In this article, three types of scale-independent functions aggregating finite ordinal numerical scales are studied. These are (1) functions mapping \(n\) copies of a scale into the very scale, (2) functions mapping \(n\) copies of a scale into a scale, and (3) functions mapping \(n\) scales into a scale. It is shown that order-invariant functions can be interpreted as scale-independent functions. Moreover, it turns out that the continuity property can be interpreted in a natural way for the first type of functions considered.
