The paper deals with the difference equation \(x_{n+1}= (A+ ax_{n-k})/(b+ x_{n-l})\) with real \(A\), \(a\), \(b\) and nonnegative integers \(k\), \(l\). Under different conditions concerning the parameters there are investigated 2-periodic resp. \((2l+ 2)\)-periodic positive solutions, and the stability behaviour of the equilibria.
