This paper gives necessary and sufficient conditions for the absolute stability of a second-order system with time-varying nonlinearity \[ \frac{dx}{dt}=Ax+B\varphi(t, (x)), \] where \(A\) is a constant \(2\times 2\) matrix, \(B\) and \(C\) are constant two-dimensional column vector and row vector, respectively, \(\varphi(t,\sigma)\) is a function that is continuous in \(\sigma\), piecewise-continuous in \(t\), and satisfies the sectorial condition \[ 0\leq\varphi(t,\sigma)\sigma\leq k\sigma^2. \] The absolute stability criterions are proved with a modified method of two-dimensional comparison systems.
