A model of a power system yields \[ \dot q=M^{-1}p,\quad\dot p=KM^{- 1}p-\nabla G(q) \] which is defined earlier as a nearly Hamiltonian structure. Stability analysis of the equilibria is based on Hamiltonian theory. An example follows from power systems theory.
