The author considers the problem of a free liquid surface of a floating zone in zero gravity. It is concluded that imposed time varying temperature gradients may provoke large amplitudes of surface elevation at or near resonance, and that these may result in disintegration of the liquid layer. Exact solutions are obtained for an infinite liquid bridge.
