    Let H be an n-dimensional complex space, B(H) the space of linear operators on H. The derivative of the map \(\otimes^ kA\in B(\otimes^ kH)\) at A is the linear operator \(D\otimes^ kA\) defined as \(D\otimes^ k(A)(B)=(d/dt)|_{t=0}\otimes^ k(A+tB)\) for every \(B\in B(H)\). Let \(V^ kH\) be the subspace of \(\otimes^ kH\) consisting of symmetric tensors, and operator \(V^ kA\) the restriction of the \(\otimes^ kA\) to the \(V^ kH\). In the paper under review the author proves the following results. Theorem 1. For every \(A\in B(H)\) the equality \(\| DV^ k(A)\| =k\| A\|^{k-1}\) is satisfied. Moreover, for every A,B\(\in B(H)\) \(\| V^ kB-V^ kA\| \leq kM^{k-1}\| B-A\|,\) where \(M=\max (\| A\|,\| B\|)\). Theorem 2. Let M(n) denote the space of all \(n\times n\) complex matrices (identified with B(H)), and per(A) denote the permanent of matrix A. Then for any A and B in M(n) the inequality \(| per(A)-per(B)| \leq nM^{n-1}\| A-B\|\) is satisfied, \(M=\max (\| A\|,\| B\|).\)
