This paper is an improvement of an earlier paper of the authors [Duke Math. J. 49, 341-376 (1982; Zbl 0499.35087)] stating the existence and completeness of the modified wave operator for Schrödinger equations with time-dependent long-range potentials. Here the improvements are in two ways. (1) A stronger version of the completeness of the modified wave operator is proved in the sense that the space of scattering states is defined as a longer class of states (satisfying weaker conditions). (2) There is a simpler proof using simpler phase space decomposition operators and approximative propagators and using a compactness argument analog to an argument given by Enss and Mourre for short range potentials.
