A normal band \(U=S(\Gamma;U_{\gamma};\phi_{\alpha,\beta})\) has \textit{T. E. Hall}'s Representation Extension Property [see Q. J. Math., Oxf. II. Ser. 29, 309-334 (1978; Zbl 0402.20052)] and its dual iff (1) each \(\phi_{\alpha,\beta}\) with \(\alpha >\beta\) is constant, (2) \(| U_{\gamma}| \leq 2\) for each \(\gamma\in \Gamma\), and (3) whenever \(| U_{\gamma}| =2\) then the infimum of \(U_{\gamma}\) (in the usual partial order on U) does not exist. This leads to a characterization of the right (left) normal bands which are semigroup amalgamation bases.
