The authors explore properties of the mean value of f and g \(\Psi [\delta_ ng(x)/\delta_ nf(x)],\) where \(\Psi\) is the inverse (if it exists) of \(t\mapsto g^{(n)}(t)/f^{(n)}(t)\) and \(\delta_ nf(x)=\sum^{n}_{k=0}f(x_ k)/\prod_{j\neq k}(x_ k-x_ j).\) Even more attention is devoted to the particular case \[ [\int_{S_ n}t^{s-n}d\mu /\int_{S_ n}t^{r-n} d\mu]^{1/(s-r)}\quad (r\neq s), \] \[ \exp (\int_{S_ n}t^{r-n} \ln t d\mu /\int_{S_ n}t^{r-n} d\mu)\quad (r=s), \] where \[ S_ n=\{\mu =(\mu_ 1,...,\mu_ n)| \quad \sum^{n}_{k=1}\mu_ k\leq 1,\quad \mu_ k\geq 0,\quad k=1,...,n\}. \] Attention is directed to several unsolved problems.
