This is a comprehensive study of the chiral anomalies using a cohomological method both in a theory of Dirac fermions interacting with a vector gauge potential and in a theory of massless Weyl fermions interacting with a gauge field in D even dimensions. The results are checked with the perturbative method based on the Feynman graph approach and first studied in 4-dimensions by \textit{W. Bardeen} [Phys. Rev. 184, 848 ff (1969)].
