A one-to-one correspondence between the resolvent iteration convergence of an m-dissipative operator and the convergence for \(t\to \infty\) of the generated semigroup is proved. The result substantially extends the Passty previous one relating to the Lipschitzean case. The very technical proof uses some facts about ''contractive evolution system'' and an idea of Miyadera and Kobayasi.
