The objective of this paper is to present a generalized approach to finite elastoplasticity. The authors develop such theory requiring neither convexity nor differentiability of a plastic potential. Non- convex plastic potentials are introduced and discussed. The flow rule has the form of the generalized subdifferential of an appropriate function. An example illustrating the developed theory is given and examined in details. For the ease of the reader the paper contains an appendix on convex analysis and an account of non-convex analysis developed mainly by Clarke and Rockafellar. The paper will be of interest to researchers in finite elastoplasticity and constitutive relations.
