In a short survey paper on nonlinear dynamics with nine essential citations, the author shows certain qualitative methods of nonlinear oscillation. The forced oscillator ẍ\(+f(x,\dot x)\dot x+g(x)=E(t)\), where E(t) is L periodic, in general and the forced Duffing's equation in particular are considered. Stroboscopic techniques, estimates of domain of attraction by contraction mapping and resonance of self excited systems are some of the topics touched upon.
