    The flux-difference splitting technique of \textit{P. L. Roe} [J. Comput. Phys. 43, 357-372 (1981; Zbl 0474.65066)] is applied to the Cauchy- Riemann equations on a square and to the time-independent Euler equations for transonic flow in a nozzle. The linear system obtained is solved by the multigrid method.
