Canonical quantization with indefinite inner product (Q1067169): Difference between revisions

The idea of algebraic quantization with indefinite inner product (IIP) of linear systems is developed. The starting point is the classical description of the system in terms of linear symplectic space (M,\(\sigma)\) and symplectic operators on it. Over the symplectic space one can construct the abstract algebra of canonical commutation relations \(\Delta\) (M,\(\sigma)\). The representations of \(\Delta\) (M,\(\sigma)\) on some linear space with IIP are examined in detail. It is shown that cyclic representations of the above type are determined by some non- positive functionals on the algebra of commutation relations. There is a one-to-one correspondence between these functionals and so called K- positive functions on (M,\(\sigma)\). K-positive functions defined by some complex structure on the symplectic space lead to so called Fock-Krein functionals on the algebra \(\Delta\) (M,\(\sigma)\) and via generalized Gelfand-Naimark-Segal construction to the Fock-Krein rpresentation of canonical commutation relations. The notion of equivalence of representations on the linear space with IIP is also studied and the existence of representations of \(\Delta\) (M,\(\sigma)\) non-equivalent to the Fock-Krein representation is shown.
