This paper deals with the scalar field model in \(n+1\) space-time defined by the sine-Gordon Lagrangian density with the additional small term W(\(\phi)\) dependent on the field variable \(\phi\) only and satisfying the condition \(W'(2\pi m)=0\), m being any integer. The author considers the case of rotational symmetry, and studies the dynamics of field lumps of large radius under potential perturbations by means of perturbation theory. The paper is structured as follows. In Section 2 the equations describing the effect of W(\(\phi)\) on dynamics of the kink-like lump are investigated. In particular, the conditions and the main features of the so-called return effect are derived and analyzed. The breather-like lump is considered in Section 3. Three dynamical regimes which correspond to various initial conditions and soliton energies are investigated in detail. As an application, in Section 4 the ring waves in a large-area Josephson junction and also in a weak two-sublattice ferromagnet are considered.
