Periodic solutions in a class of Hamiltonian systems with one degree of freedom containing the Lotka-Volterra system are considered. Their period is represented as an integral appropriate for numerical evaluation as well as for theoretical investigations. The monotonicity of the period in the Lotka-Volterra system follows as a simple consequence.
