Elementary Fourier Analysis (introduced in the history of astronomy by B. L. van den Waerden in 1952) is resorted to in order to clear an ambiguous statement about the variation law of the apparent lunar motion. Three different translations of Pa\=ncasiddhāntikā are involved.
