This paper is concerned with the numerical study of magnetohydrodynamic equilibria in stellarator configurations. For solving the 3-dimensional problem, the code NEAR is used for minimizing the energy. The code uses a set of vacuum flux coordinates as a Eulerian grid for the equilibrium calculations. The results of extensive numerical convergence studies are presented and a comparison is made with the results obtained from other computations.
