Conformal-mapping-based coordinate generation method for flows in periodic configurations (Q1078013): Difference between revisions

A conformal mapping method for incompressible inviscid potential flows in periodic configurations has been developed. A channel of an arbitrary shape, representing internal configurations, is mapped into a straight channel and a wall of an arbitrary shape, representing external configurations, is mapped into a straight wall in the computational plane. Transformations of the Schwarz-Christoffel type are utilized and the paper describes an extension of that method to the case of periodic configurations for internal and external flows. The form of the transforming functions are known, however their parameters have to be determined through a method of successive approximations. Numerical procedures permitting determination of the parameters are described. Solutions for different configurations are presented to illustrate the capabilities of the method.
