An experimental verification of a multi-input, multi-output (MIMO) self- tuning regulator for drum boiler control is described. The MIMO regulators with multi-step quadratic criteria were applied to control two steam temperature loops and a loop of steam pressure with combustion air intake. Square-root algorithms were used both for on-line identification and control.
