We reexamine Hamiltonian structure of the equations for homentropic compressible and homogeneous fluid flows considered by \textit{J. Verosky} [ibid. 9, 51-58 (1985)] and shown to be related. An alternative perspective to the problem is given here, which perhaps more clearly elucidates the connection, and which introduced a slightly different view of Hamiltonian structure for the full equations. The case of stratified fluids is examined. For convenience, the case of two-dimensional motions is stressed.
