[For the entire collection see Zbl 0625.00015.] This article gives a nice survey on the Yang-Baxter-Zamolodchikov-Faddeev (YBZF) algebras arising from the theory of quantum and classical integrable field theory and statistical mechanics. The definition of YBZF algebras and its relation to the integrability is clearly presented, several important relevant notions such as the Yang-Baxter equation, R- matrices, monodromy matrices are explained. The author gives also a connection between YBZF and Kac-Moody (KM) algebras through a class of integrable models. One conclusion, among others, is that local currents provide representation of KM algebras whereas monodromy operators are generators of YBZF algebras. The following monograph should be added to the references: \textit{L. D. Faddeev} and \textit{L. A. Takhtajan} [``Hamiltonian methods in the theory of solitons'' (Springer 1987; Zbl 0632.58004)].
